Our long-standing Lancaster furniture store, on Parliament Street, will reopen this weekend following the devastating effects of the December flooding.
LPC Furniture was forced to close when Storm Desmond hit, as the shop was so badly damaged that it needed a complete refurbishment. After a big clean and mop up the shop managed to open briefly for the January Sales, our busiest time. The floors were sticky and the décor was wrecked but customers came, keeping our staff in jobs.
Owner Pam Hinchliffe said: “It has been difficult. The storm had an enormous impact in the area and we were just one of many local businesses affected by it. Despite cleaning up as best we could to open in time for January, we had no choice but to close a couple of weeks later so we could start a complete refurbishment. Getting to this moment has been anything but smooth! The refurbishment has been a very lengthy process, and if it were not for the successful Grand Sale we put on in our Morecambe store, our staff would have been temporarily out of a job.
Below are some photos showing the water damage.
“My staff members have been brilliant. I couldn’t have done it without them. They have been completely committed and focused in the clean-up and refurbishment, and most importantly, they’ve kept my spirits up. I am so grateful for all their help.”
Just in time for Christmas…

The Lancaster Store on Parliament Street officially reopens in time for the Spring Sale this Saturday April 30th.
Becky said: “It’ll be the perfect chance for our customers, old and new, to come along and see the newly refurbished shop and all of our fantastic stock.
“The flooding has changed some things, but it hasn’t changed the fact that we stock solid wood furniture built to last…well, providing it doesn’t get flooded!”
“The positive side of all this is that it has given us the opportunity to reflect on the brands we currently stock and review the range. We’re proud to stock our strong core brands and we’re excited about also adding some new and exciting pieces of furniture in the future. Pop along this weekend and see for yourself! ”
