The Westmorland Show 2016

The Westmorland Show 2016

For the fifth year running we’ve set up our stall at the Westmorland Show. Despite setting up on a glorious, hot Wednesday, the weather did not keep till Thursday…

Voted one of the UK’s favourites, the Westmorland Show is one of the oldest and largest traditional agricultural shows nationally. The show features livestock (all sorts of cattle, from pigs to alpacas!) show jumping competitions, trade stands, demonstrations and, well a bit of everything.  This year saw the introduction of a Red & White dairy section, and hosted the final of the new Cone Driving Challenge.

We were one of the 350 trade stands, setting up the day before so we would be ready to open first thing on Thursday. It was a beautifully sunny day on Wednesday, so setting up was no problem, however, it gave a false idea of the weather to come…

Torrential rain caused a muddy mess, and with accidents (unrelated to the show) on major access routes, it meant more challenges for visitors and exhibitors intent on coming. Nevertheless, despite the downpour and traffic, a huge amount of people turned up in wellies with a smiling face.

Seeking shelter from the rain, many visitors, (locally and further afield) were afraid to get their muddy boots and coats all over our fabulous new upholstery. We told them they needn’t worry, and sure enough, once the mud had dried, we easily brushed the dirt off our Elgar sofa and Taransay chair to find them as good as new. Good quality sofas are a lot harder to mess with than cheaper materials!

We also held a raffle to win a stunning table lamp from Cream Cornwell. We’ve we’ve put all the names into a hat and we can now reveal the winner! Drum roll please…

Thanks to everyone one of you who visited us at the Westmorland Show, we hope to see you again next year, if we don’t see you in store before then 😉
